Release Date of Rana Daggubati’s Haathi Mera Saathi Confirmed!

Mark your calendars, as the most awaited multilingual movie of the year, Haathi Mera Saathi is all set to make a direct-to-TV release on 18th September on Zee Cinema. Featuring south’s heartthrob sensation Rana Duggubati, the movie’s big screen launch was on hold due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in the nation. But now, the wait has finally come to an end.

 

Haathi Mera Saathi takes its title from the classic film of 1871 that had starred Rajesh Khaana, the movie showcases life of Bandev (Rana Duggubati) whose beloved friends are a group of elephants. Known for his spectacular physique in the Baahubali series, Rana ended up losing about 30 kilograms for the role.

Directed by Prabhu Solomon, the film co-stars eminent actors of the industry including Pulkit Samrat, Shirya Pilgoankar, Zoya Hussain and Vishnu Vishal. Earlier, Rana Duggubati took to his social media handle to announce the official theatrical release of Haathi Mera Saathi on 26th March, 2021. Eros Now, the production house of the movie in its official statement conveyed that given the current situation of pandemic, Haathi Mera Saathti’s release has been kept on hold; however the Telugu and Tamil versions, Aranya and Kaadan were released on the respective date.

Well, this is not the first time when directors went for a TV premier over OTT platforms. Reliance Entertainment’s Aelay & Mandela, Prabhakaran’s Sarbath and Tughlaq Darbar by Vijay Sethupathi are some of the popular movies that witnessed a television release. This works as a profitable strategy for small-budget movies that want to skip the high rates of OTTs and generate revenue from TV rights sales followed by a digital premier. Haathi Mera Saathi will walk on the same lines. After the satellite television release on Zee Cinema, the film will have a digital premier on Eros Now.
